Grehan gains two-shot lead at Motocaddy Masters

Motocaddy Masters

Ireland’s Stuart Grehan will take a two-shot cushion into the final round of the HotelPlanner.com EuroPro Tour’s Motocaddy Masters at Frilford Heath Golf Club.

Grehan carded a superb second round of 66 to move clear at eight-under-par for the tournament. The 25-year-old capped off an impressive display with a three on the par four 18th to finish six-under for the day. It was one of only 17 birdies to be made on the last hole so far this week.

The young Irish star is making his debut season on the EuroPro Tour and has already shown a glimpse of his considerable talent by finishing first in Qualifying School Stage One at Formby Hall Golf Club.

He will be joined in the final group tomorrow by three-time European Tour winner Phillip Price. The 2002 Ryder Cup star shot back-to-back rounds of 69 to put himself in the mix for tomorrow’s climax.

Price is joined at six-under-par by Scotland’s Paul O’Hara (NL Leisure) and Will Enefer (Retail Furniture Ltd), who finished in a tie for second at last season’s Jessie May Trust World Snooker Golf Championship at Collingtree Park.

It was a disappointing day for first round leader Chris Gane (Lefthandedgolf at Silvermere), who went round in 76 shots to finish seven off the pace at one-under-par for the week.

A cut to the leading 50 professionals and ties has now been made, with those two-over-par or better proceeding to the final round, after which the winner will take home £10,000.

Spectator entry is free throughout and live scoring can be found at www.europrotour.com. Highlights of the Motocaddy Masters will air on Sky Sports on Tuesday May 29th.

Motocaddy has been selected as the ‘Official Electric Trolley’ of the PGA EuroPro Tour for the thirteenth consecutive year. The PGA EuroPro Tour is the leading developmental tour in Europe with the top five players from the Order of Merit receiving exemptions onto the 2019 European Challenge Tour.
